The foundation of the curly girl method is to reduce or cut-out shampoo, heat styling and to avoid products that contain sulphates, silicones, drying agents, alcohol and paraben, as well as cutting down the number of washes per week. It’s also about not changing the texture of the curls any more. For far too long people with curls have been taught to tame, smoothen and control their curls. Going to a “normal” hairdresser would often end in disappointment as hairdressers would always start to wash the hair and end with a sophisticated blow-dry and straightening.
This approach simply doesn’t work for people with curls as it doesn’t respect the natural fall or shape of the hair. Lastly, it’s all about taking the time and dedicating it fully to the person in front of us while providing professional consultation about what’s best suited for their hair and teaching our clients how to look after it in the correct way.
